Dover (07801) is a Town located in Morris County, NJ. The community is 39 miles west of New York City and 29 miles west of Newark. The community has a total area of 2.7 square miles and has approximately 5,600 housing units. Dover has a busy downtown district with shops, restaurants, and a train station. The community developed as a traditional town with a small central business district surrounded by compact single and multi family homes which have lots of old world charm. Housing stock includes Pre-World War II homes including colonials, victorians, and multi-family dwellings. There is also a mix of 1900s ranch, cape, bi-level, and split levels as well as newer colonial replacement homes sprinkled across the community.

Commute

Dover has easy access to U.S. Route 46 and NJ Route 10. Interstate 80 is close by. The Dover Train Station offers direct service to Hoboken or NY Penn Station on the NJ Transit Morristown Line. Passengers who take the Hoboken train can switch to the PATH to reach NYC. Passengers who take the Midtown Direct train will arrive at NY Penn Station in about 80 minutes. Lakeland Bus Lines maintains a garage and terminal in Dover. Passengers who take the bus will arrive at the NY Port Authority in Midtown in about 80 minutes.

Schools

The Dover School District serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Schools in the district are Academy Street Elementary (K-5), East Dover Elementary (3-6), North Dover Elementary (PreK-5), Dover Middle School (7-8), and Dover High School (9-12).

Shopping

Dover has a thriving downtown area with many shops and eateries. The town is close to the Rockaway Townsquare Mall which is anchored by Macy's, JC Penny's, Lord & Taylor, Sears, Target, Walmart, Dicks Sporting Goods, Best Buy, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Rockaway Townsquare Mall is one of the largest and most modern malls in New Jersey.

Recreation

There are numerous parks located in Dover including JFK Commons Park, Water Works Park, Overlook Park, Hurd Park and Hedden County Park, which is a 380-acre Morris County park, with the park entrances in nearby Randolph. Hedden Park's lake is six acres with a fishing pier, boat rentals (in season), a boat house, a deck area, and an outdoor fireplace for ice skaters.
